In memoriam: Jim and Myra Craig

It is with shock and sadness that we announce the deaths of two long standing and committed members of the congregation.  Within twenty-four hours of each other, Jim and Myra Craig both passed on.

Jim had been unwell for some months and was being cared for in Waverley Ward at Roger Park.  He died peacefully on morning of Thursday 12th June.  On the morning of Friday 13th June, her family found Myra dead at home.

Both joined the church in 1957 and over the years Jim served as a deacon, secretary, treasurer and organist of the Church. Jim had been a paratrooper during the war, fought at Monte Cassino and always took a keen interest and involvement in youth work. Within the wider community he helped run the Burnside Sea Scouts.

Myra trained as a teacher and loved being involved with the children in the church. Generations of children learned Bible stories from her.  She was also involved in the church Women’s organisations, the wider work of the Baptist Union and in local ecumenical events.

They are survived by their son Donald and grandchildren Donald and Shona and numerous great-grandchildren.
