Mike Yaconelli:  Messy Spirituality,  published by Hodder, London 2001.

Spriituality is about real people with real life issues and not "saints".  Mike Yaconelli asks the question is his short book "What if we discovered that our messy, ordinary lives are the very place we are most likely to find God and deepen our knowledge of him?"

In this very readable book, real christianity is explored with a clear vison that we can all discover the reality of God's goodness. "... my heart laughs at a God who conspired to make sure I understood for ever his fathomless grace.  Every day I hear him whisper, "I'll never take back my grace"  I hope you hear him whispering too."

The Golden Compass

The issues raised by this film based on the first of Philip Pullman's fantasy books about children, puberty, faith, manipulation, daemons and coming of age have been well debated elsewhere.  For a good intoduction to the area of debate start with: http://liambyrnes.co.uk/2007/12/13/golden-compass-fuss-over-nothing/

BTW - no relation to Mrs Coulter played in the film by Nicole Kidman
