June 2010 news
In Memoriam: Maisie McFadyen Older members of the congregation will remember Masie McFadyn. Sadly Maisie passed-on on Friday 4th June 2009 aged 81 after a long struggle with cancer. Maisie was well known in Rutherglen, a past president of the Bowling Club, and an international toastmistress and public speaker. She was also known regularly to attend the swimming pool, the dancing and art classes. Although brought up in the church. Latterly the circumstances of life made it more difficult to have the active role she once had; nevertheless she maintained her links with the congregation. In recent years she stayed in Elizabeth Court in Greenhill Road and always welcomed those of the church doing visitation in the area. Her grandchildren Fiona and Fraser have both been members of the Youth Theatre. Her funeral will probably be on Friday at the South Lanarkshire Crematorium and will be led by Ken. Pray for her children, Ian, Angus and Lynn and their partners and her grandchildren Lorna and Emma, Fiona and Fraser and Kate and Elspeth. Emma is due to be married on the 4th July in Troon. Although we will miss Maisie; she has asked that her funeral be a happy one and a celebration of her life. As a congregation we give thanks to God for her life and all the special-ness she bought to the Church.
Isaiah chap. 57 vv 1-2 Those who do right are being taken away from evil andare given peace. Those who live as God wants find rest in death.
